Attendance:

Guests:
Roman Lopez to speak about financial planning.
H.L. O’Neal (CLEAT) available to speak about legal related issues
Rod Reyna and Jeff Coleman, candidates for Mayor, came to introduce themselves. They were advised that the candidate forum was going to be scheduled for April.
Treasurer’s report:
As of February 28, 2007 the balance showed $3705.44. Balance as of this meeting showed $3207.36.
Golf tournament:
Currently on schedule for Saturday June 2, 2007. Will be on the PISD website. Possibly in the news letter for the city.
Middle School Dance:
Friday March 30, 2007.
We sell the tickets through the SRO at the middle school, also at the door. There will be no charge for the school facilities. There is a sign up sheet on the board. Please help if you can, we appreciate all we can get.
Candidate Forum:
David Kohler advised that the City of Pflugerville Banquet is on April 3, 2007. Suggestion was made by David that we might want to move it. After discussion by the attending members it was decided that possibly April 4, 2007. We will have to check with the candidates in reference to their schedules. Chuck Hooker has confirmed that
The courtroom is available.
Member status:
20 paid members and 6 associate members.
Scholarship Committee:
Oscar volunteered for the committee and this is still open for any other members who wish to participate.
Cadet Scholarship:
Kayla Hoskings, Kathi Jensen, attended. Attending members conversed about obtaining a 501C3. In regards to sponsoring a Police Cadet. It was discussed that there was enough funds in the Andrew’s account this year to go ahead and sponsor a Cadet. After this year the PPA would look at joining this cause or matching this fund. It was discussed that we need to review our charter also in regards to this action.
Survey Committee:
Goal setters. Needed that can consult with the officers and see what the needs are in regards to setting the PPA goals for the 2007 year.
By-Law changes:
Ballot with be placed in boxes March 15, 2007.
CLEAT:
H.L. O’NEAL talked about the programs that CLEAT currently offers. The first program was a will/probate program. As a paid CLEAT member you can contact a CLEAT Attorney or go on line at www.cleat.org and complete the will paperwork. The attorney will complete all paperwork for you (FREE OF CHARGE). Once the paperwork is complete the attorney will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet with you to execute that documentation.
The second program is the TIPPS program. This is temporary income protection program that allows the member to be eligible to receive $100 per day if the member is suspended without pay, for up to 5 days per year.
Contact CLEAT for additional information regarding either of these programs.
New Business:
HB2490. This bill was filed yesterday by State Rep. Mark Strama, with the assistance from Chief Hooker. This bill will help clean up some of the language within the current compulsory attendance requirements. Hopefully there will be a public hearing at the legislature. Anyone interested is encouraged to go to the hearing to speak on behalf on this issue.

H.L. attended the meeting to remind Pflugerville POA members about the TIPPS program as well as the Will program. Discussions were also talked amongst POA members regarding an upcoming candidate forum scheduled for Wednesday April 4, 2007. The forum will be held at the Pflugerville Justice Center located at 1611 E Pfennig Lane (across from the new Wal-Mart) starting at 7:00pm.
