Tuition reimbursement for a graduate of the

CAPCOG Basic Peace Officer Training

Andrew W. Hoskings was a Senior Patrol Officer in the Pflugerville Police Department until his death on March 18, 2003. This award is designed to honor his memory by supporting a future peace officer with the potential for the outstanding performance, professionalism, compassion, sense of humor, and high standards that Andrew possessed.

CRITERIA

The Applicant must demonstrate the following:

       The same fundamental qualities possessed by Senior Patrol Officer Andrew Hoskings

       Currently enrolled in the CAPCOG Basic Peace Officer Training beginning on September 8, 2008 at the Pflugerville Police Department

       A need for tuition reimbursement

       Please note: candidates who receive sponsorship or tuition reimbursement from another source will not be considered for this award.

       A commitment to a career as a peace officer

       Success during the Basic Peace Officer Training

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

       A check for tuition reimbursement (or $1,200.00) will be presented to the winner at the Academy graduation ceremony.  The

          honoree will also be recognized at the annual Pflugerville Police Department Awards Ceremony.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

       Candidates should submit a letter of application describing the ways in which they meet the above criteria.  Letters should be no

          more than one page long and should be postmarked by February 28, 2009.

       The letter should include the following information at the top of the page: full name, address, email address, and any contact phone

          numbers.

Letters of application will be evaluated and the recipient determined by the Andrew Hoskings Memorial Scholarship Board, consisting of members of the Hoskings family and representatives of the Pflugerville Police Department, the Pflugerville Police Association, and the CAPCOG Police Training Academy instructional staff.
